Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) was established in 2005 through an Act of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature, with its headquarters in the holy city of Tirupati. The university's journey began with the College of Veterinary Science, which was established in Bapatla in 1955 and later shifted to Tirupati in 1957. From a modest beginning with one college and six departments, SVVU has grown into a premier institution with three faculties - Veterinary Science, Fishery Science, and Dairy Science - comprising 38 constituent institutions and research stations spread across the state.

Established in 2005, SVVU is the only dedicated veterinary university in Andhra Pradesh, with a rich legacy dating back to 1955 through its constituent College of Veterinary Science, offering comprehensive education across veterinary, fishery, and dairy sciences.
Research & Vaccine Development
SVVU has pioneered the development of inactivated vaccines against Blue Tongue disease in sheep and Footrot disease, developed diagnostic kits, and conducted extensive molecular genetic characterization of indigenous livestock breeds.
