Silchar College of Education (SCE) was established on 15 August 1994 as the first B.Ed college in the private sector in the Barak Valley, at Nagatillah, Silchar . The college was set up with the objective of producing secondary level qualified and trained teachers in the region . The institution was approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in 2003 and the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC), New Delhi .
Affiliated to Assam University, Silchar , the college offers a full-time Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme with a total seat capacity of 100 .
