Assam Institute of Management (AIM) was established in 1988 by the Government of Assam as an autonomous institute under the Public Enterprises Department. The institute was created in response to diagnostic studies that identified management inefficiency and a lack of professionally trained management personnel as key reasons for the underperformance of State Level Public Enterprises and various government-sponsored projects in the region. Initially known as the Assam Institute of Management and Accountancy, the institute conducted management development programmes and short-term professional courses before launching its flagship PGDM programme in 1994.
Today, AIM stands as a vibrant, best-in-class management institute, nationally acclaimed and globally networked.
