Established in 1947 through the efforts of Anjuman-e-Islamiah, Osmania College is one of the oldest degree colleges in Rayalaseema and Andhra Pradesh. Founded by Dr. M. Abdul Haq, who approached the Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, for a capital grant of ₹2,00,000, the college was named in his honour. The first degree college in Kurnool, it is a minority institution recognized by UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(b). Spread across 9.5 acres, the college is affiliated to Rayalaseema University (since 2010) and holds NAAC A Grade accreditation. With over 2,500 students and 117 faculty members, Osmania College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Arts, Sciences, Commerce, and Management.
