One of the pioneering colleges of Assam, established in 1946, situated on the bank of the Kushiara River demarcating the Indo-Bangladesh Border, serving as a beacon of higher education in the Barak Valley for over seven decades.
Karimganj College, established in 1946, is one of the oldest and most prestigious undergraduate, co-educational colleges in Assam. Located in Karimganj on the bank of the Kushiara River, which demarcates the Indo-Bangladesh Border, the college was founded with a vision to provide quality higher education to the people of the Barak Valley region.
The college was initially named "Karimganj College of Arts, Science & Technology" but due to Calcutta University rules, the name was changed. The institution was established through the collective efforts of visionary leaders including Eahya Khan, a distinguished graduate of Presidency College and S.D.O. of Karimganj, and Rabindra Nath Aditya, a freedom fighter and educationist who served as Secretary of the College from its inception until 1959. The college was taken over by the Government of Assam and is now a provincialized institution.
