Bahona College, established on 15 July 1966, is a premier co-educational institution located at Bahona, 9 km north-east of Jorhat town toward Nimati Ghat on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. The college is the result of a vision of the local people and a few distinguished educationists, social activists, and political leaders to provide higher education to a large number of rural and economically backward students. The three eminent founding fathers—Ram Kumar Baruah (founder principal), Dulal Chandra Baruah, and Ganesh Chandra Dutta—are fondly remembered as the immortal "Trimurti" in the annals of the college.
Affiliated to Dibrugarh University and accredited with NAAC A+ Grade with CGPA 3.36, the college was brought under the deficit system in 1975 and now has approximately 1,200 students and 55 teachers across 12 departments.
