Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) was established by an Act of Parliament through the Central Universities (Amendment) Act 2014 (No. 35 of 2014), which received the assent of the President on 17th December 2014. The university became functional on 3rd February 2016. Located in Motihari (Bankat) in the East Champaran district of Bihar, on National Highway 28, MGCU is the 41st Central University of India, established in the very land where Mahatma Gandhi launched his historic Satyagraha in 1917.
Christened after the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the university is committed to inculcating the spirit of Satyagraha, Truth, and Non-Violence among its learners. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with the prestigious NAAC A++ grade, MGCU offers a wide range of academic programs across 07 Schools and 20 teaching departments.
