ABOUT

About RPCAU

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU) was established on 7th October 2016 through the conversion of the erstwhile Rajendra Agricultural University (RAU), Pusa, into a Central Agricultural University by an ordinance of the President of India. Located in Pusa, Samastipur district of Bihar, the university is named after Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India and a revered statesman who championed the cause of farmers and agricultural development.

The university's roots run deep into India's agricultural history. The Agricultural Research Institute and College was first established at Pusa in 1905, marking the beginning of organized agricultural education in the region. This was followed by the establishment of Rajendra Agricultural University on 3rd December 1970, which served as a premier state agricultural university for over four decades. Today, as a Central Agricultural University and an Institution of National Importance, RPCAU continues this proud legacy.
