The Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP) was established in 2019 through the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2019, fulfilling the mandate of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 to establish a central university in the residual state of Andhra Pradesh. The university is located on a sprawling 492-acre campus at Janthaluru, about 15 km from Ananthapuramu, with its transit campus initially operating at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur. The University of Hyderabad was selected to mentor the new university in June 2018, providing guidance during its formative years. The university's motto, "Vidya Dadati Vinayam," meaning "Education gives Humility," reflects its commitment to holistic and values-based education.
CUAP offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across disciplines including Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Management, and Technology. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been accredited with an 'A' Grade by NAAC.
